2016 Bluegrass Festival Rally

June 16, 2016 - June 19, 2016 with Southwest LTV Roadrunners
San Bernardino County Fair Grounds,
14800 7th Street
Victorville, CA 92395 United States
+ Google Map

We invite you to come and spend a splendid Father’s Day weekend with your fellow RVers at this year’s Route 66 Bluegrass Festival in Victorville, CA.

If you haven’t been to one of these events, it is a really fun experience. Aileen and I were introduced to the Huck Finn Jubilee Festival, a similar but larger bluegrass festival, a couple of years ago and liked it so much we attended a second year. This year’s event is being held June 10-12 at the Cucamonga-Guasti Regional Park in Ontario, CA. Due to a scheduling conflict we cannot attend it and, instead, have chosen to go to the Route 66 Bluegrass Festival in Victorville to see how it compares. One of our favorite bands “Out of the Desert Bluegrass Band” from Las Vegas will be performing. We hope you will join us.

Please see the festival’s website: for tickets, reservations and additional information. 3-day Early Bird tickets are on sale now for $50/person until May 15th. Festival tickets may be purchased separately, by day. 3-day dry-camping costs $60 and 3-day camping with hook-ups costs $120. Note: pets are permitted in campground area only. We have made our 3-day hook-up camp site reservations. Be sure to let us know if you are planning to attend.

Western Sunsetter Saskatchewan Rally

June 21, 2016 - June 24, 2016 with Western Canada Sunsetters
Manitou Beach,
701 Lakeview Avenue
Manitou Beach, Saskatchewan S0K 4T0 Canada
+ Google Map

Our Western Sunsetter Saskatchewan Rally will be held Tuesday June 22 to Friday June 24 at Manitou & District Regional Park, 6 km north of Watrous SK on Hwy 365. The park has a lot to offer: the world famous Manitou Mineral Spa (don’t forget your swimsuit); Danceland for those like to go dancing; the Manitou Beach Golf Club which is just across the highway from the campground, plus much more. You can learn a lot about the park by going to their website at
I have reserved 14 sites with full hookups close to the washrooms, showers and camp kitchen, more can be made available if needed. To obtain one of the reserved sites you must wait until after May 1 and then contact the campground at 306-946-2588. Tell them you are with the Leisure Travel Van group so that they put you into our reserved area. The campground will require you to pay one nights camping to hold your site. You can use a credit card to pay.

All meals will be communally held at the large camp kitchen located in our reserved area; no need to worry about inclement weather. For those arriving Tuesday we will be having a pot luck supper. Power is available for plugging in warming pots, a fridge is also available. You can probably count on the Chapter supplying a BBQ one evening and a pancake breakfast one morning. There will be plenty of time during the days to enjoy the park’s amenities and the company of other LTVrs . Evenings will end with our traditional bon-fire.

It would help immensely if you would e-mail me to let me know you are coming so that I can plan supplies as well as the food for the meals we will be providing.

If you have any questions please contact me at or telephone 306-297-7921. ( I will be in Europe from April 18 to May 7 so I will not be able to answer calls during that period but I will respond to e-mails once I get back home.)

Hoping to see many of you there!

July 2016

2016 OR WA Scenic Wonders Rally

July 3, 2016 - July 27, 2016 with Southwest LTV Roadrunners
Pheasant Ridge RV Park,
8275 SW Elligsen Rd
Wilsonville, OR 97070 United States
+ Google Map

This is another of our Club’s, regularly scheduled RV rallies. Every year, usually the weekend following the fourth of July, George and Aileen Ormsby return to their previous home town in Lake Oswego, OR about 10 miles south of Portland, to visit their kids and grandkids and to escape the summer heat in Las Vegas. Each year they take a different route and invite anyone interested in joining them to come along for all or any part of their journey. We hope you’ll join them on their trip this year.

The RV caravan will rendezvous at the Pony Express RV Resort in North Salt Lake City, Utah on July 3 then travel north to historic Baker City and Joseph located in the beautiful Wallowa Mountains in the northeastern part of Oregon. Baker City is along the historic Lewis and Clark Trail. Joseph is a growing artistic community named after the famous Nez Perce Indian Chief who once settled in the area. His image appeared on the previously minted nickel coin. RVers will stay three nights nestled creek-side at the Wallowa River RV Park then two nights in the near-by town of Imnaha where George has arranged a special catered BBQ dinner the first evening and the next day a really awesome sightseeing adventure to the remote Hat Point Lookout for a spectacular view of the Snake River and its surrounding canyons. 4-wheel drive transportation will be provided by local ranchers.
