Trail Start and End Details
26 miles west of Portland, Oregon, the Banks-Vernonia Trail can be accessed at six different points along its route. Along with Banks and Vernonia, trailheads can be found at Manning, Buxton, Tophill, and Beaver Creek.
Description and Tips
Banks-Vernonia State Trail follows a former railroad path – Oregon’s first rails-to-trails – that has been taken back over by woods. This multi-use paved trail includes the opportunity to learn a little of Oregon’s history while enjoying the renewed forest along 21 miles of tree-lined and level pathway. A highlight of the route are 13 wooden trestle bridges.
