These LTV owners added kitchen counter space by creating a flip-down shelf, constructed from a 1/4-inch piece of plywood with a 3/32-inch plastic panel glued on top. Metal clips for the chains are sandwiched in-between the two pieces, to be used at night when the shelf is flipped up and the shade pulled down. The plywood has 1-inch tabs at each end that fit in the window frame and act as hinge points for the shelf.
