This is a campground without hook-ups about 24 miles east of Austin along US Highway 50. This is a great place to take a walk, let the kids run, have a picnic, spend a few days camping, and look at ancient petroglyphs.

Hickison offers long vistas, shade, and an opportunity to think about early Native Americans hunting, drawing on rock, and living in this area.

Campground Amenities

Vault toilets, picnic benches, and grills are available in the day-use area, but there are no trash cans, water sources, or hookups in the area.

Nearby Attractions

The short and sweet Hickison Petroglyphs Interpretive Trail is great for the family. There are a variety of interesting Native American petroglyph drawings and benches along the way for sitting.
