The story goes that Sir Winston Churchill once described The Niagara Parkway, which runs parallel to the Niagara River from Fort Erie to Niagara-on-the-Lake, as the “prettiest Sunday afternoon drive in the world.” It’s not hard to see why, with views of the treelined Niagara River and picturesque homes all the way from start to finish.

Scenic Drive Tips

You can drive the Parkway either way, of course, but driving north so that you’re alongside the water is perhaps the prettiest way to experience the drive. Niagara-on-the-Lake is a lovely little town to explore. Check out Fort George National Historic Site. If you haven’t seen it before, the Canadian side of Niagara Falls is of course not to be missed.
