Shawangunk Mountains Scenic Byway and the surrounding area is known for spectacular views, outdoor activities, and historic landmarks. This is a gorgeous drive and perhaps the most breathtaking experience you will find in New York State, with beautiful panoramic mountain roads that will keep anyone mesmerized.

Scenic Drive Tips

At the northern end of the loop is the Mohonk Preserve and Mohonk Mountain House. Minnewaska State Park Preserve occupies the wide midsection of the ridge. To the south of Minnewaska is Sam’s Point Preserve.
