Beginning in Slidell and ending in Covington, “The Trace” travels through five communities along the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain. There are trailheads in each community.

Description and Tips

Slidell, LaCombe, Mandeville, Abita Springs, and Covington are unique communities rich in Cajun and Creole history. The Northshore, as the area is commonly called, was traditionally a vacation spot for people escaping the oppressive heat of New Orleans. Each town offers playgrounds, rest areas, Saturday farmers markets, and restaurant options. Saturday mornings are special on The Trace, with events and festivals dotting the trails. You’ll find crafts, live music, local produce, and Cajun food to help you “carb load” during your ride.
