The New Mexico portion of Trail of the Ancients Scenic Byway includes routes to various archeological sites in northwestern New Mexico, offering glimpses into the lives of the Ancestral Puebloans and the Navajo, Ute, and Apache peoples. This route starts at Chaco Culture National Historical Park and ends at Aztec Ruins National Monument. Chaco Canyon was once a ceremonial center, and this drive is an incredible opportunity to observe eleventh century Pueblo and Aztec ruins.
