Drive the Seward Highway from Anchorage to Portage along the shoreline of Turnagain Arm, with mountains rising up on the opposite side. Most days you’ll spot wildlife like sheep and eagles and if you’re lucky, even beluga whales!

Scenic Drive Tips

Pull out at Beluga Point or other lookouts to take in the view. Girdwood is a fun ski town to visit, and the Wildlife Conservation Center is a great stop. Portage Glacier features a visitors center and a boat ride to the glacier.
