From June 21 to 24 twenty five LTV’rs gathered at Manitou Regional Park for our 14th consecutive rally at this lovely park. It all began Tuesday as vans arrived from all four western provinces. After, relaxing and taking time for renewing old acquaintances and meeting new people, we all gathered for a potluck supper in the camp kitchen that was in our reserved area.

The call for supper was announced by a former LTV owner, Dave Harris, who was camped near us by playing a tune on his bag pipes. The evening ended with everyone gathered around the bonfire.

Wednesday morning Bill Harder and Norm Lavoy prepared a leisurely breakfast of blueberry pancakes and sausages for everyone. In the afternoon some of our campers headed off to play golf at the golf course that was across the road from our campground. Others went into the resort village of Manitou Beach to enjoy the spa, drive along the lake or shop in the tourist shops around town. Wednesday evening we met in our camp kitchen to enjoy our suppers as well as large Texas watermelon that Bill Harder brought from Winkler MB. After supper Bill Harder led us in 10 games of bingo. This is a bingo game that is played with decks of cards. We had 5 tables of players. Prizes were cash provided from the entry fee as well as a couple of Leisure Hats that Bill was able to obtain from head office. The hats were a coveted prize.

Thursday was a very casual day with more golfing, exploring features on the different LTV units, sightseeing and of course more visits to the healing waters of the Manitou Lake and Spa. Thursday evening, Norm Lavoy grilled hamburgers for everyone and we ended the night with another bonfire. During the campfire one of our campers gave a testimony about the healing waters of Manitou. Apparently he suffered from severe psoriasis on his legs and arms and after many cures attempted by doctors with no success, he came to Manitou to soak in the salty waters of the spa and his psoriasis healed up completely. He continues to make a trip to Manitou at least once a year to use the spa and he has been free from psoriasis for many years. He attributes this to the healing waters of Manitou.

Friday morning we awoke again to beautiful weather. In fact the weather was beautiful for the whole rally. Some of our long time LTV’rs who have been attending this rally commented that this was the first time they have not experienced some rain while at the rally. Pat and Henry Smith who unfortunately had to leave the previous day to catch a flight to a family wedding had prepared and left us with 3 ice cream buckets filled with delicious tea-bisquits. Hazel Lavoy had a big jar of Saskatoon Berry jam and some cheese that we enjoyed with the bisquits. After breakfast we cleaned up the camp kitchen and broke camp. For some of us who had been on the road for a couple weeks taking in not only this rally but the one the previous week, it was time to head home. Others were planning on extending their travels for a few more weeks.
