The Great Northeast Travelers 2024 Fall Rally was held at Swan Bay RV Resort in Alexandria Bay, New York, located on the shores of the magnificent St.Lawrence River. 48 LTVs from 15 states and 2 Canadian provinces filled a good portion of the Swan Bay RV Resort. The weather forecast for our rally promised rain every day, but thankfully, it only rained overnight Wednesday.
Although the rally was scheduled to last three days, 11 LTVs showed up a day early to get a head start on the fun. On Tuesday evening, members gathered for the meet-and-greet happy hour at the Waterfront Pavillion. We were excited to catch up with old friends and meet some people attending a rally for the first time.
After the meet and greet, many attendees gathered at the community fire pit, which was a fabulous gas fire, with no smoke in your face or returning to your LTV smelling. We discovered that it was a great way to roast marshmallows.
Wednesday morning, members were served muffins at the pavilion prior to the group picture. We had some no-shows and had to take the picture indoors due to inclement weather.
The weather was cloudy but not rainy for the boat tour of the Thousand Island area. The boat River Loop picked up our group of 62 at the dock at the resort at 1:00 pm, where we had a narrated tour on our way to Boldt Castle. Our group was able to walk the beautifully landscaped grounds and interior of the property. It was amazing. Clayton Island Tours returned us safely to our home port at 3:45 pm.
We had our traditional pizza party Wednesday evening; how many pizzas does it take to feed over 90 hungry campers? 28.
Fretz RV generously sponsored the pizza party, and we very much appreciate their support. They also provided us with some raffle material. Thank you, Fretz RV. After the pizza, Arlen Dau showed us how to plan a road trip using Trip Wizard. We love it when members step up and share their talents with the rest of us. Thank you, Arlen and Lea Dau
Thursday’s weather turned out so much better than forecasted. It was a beautiful day for the LTV Open House. This activity has become a favorite part of the rally, where attendees can share their modifications with others. We are fortunate to have some real talent in our group.
Thursday, the final evening, we had dinner catered by Johnny D’s food truck. The food was fantastic thank you, Dave.
After dinner, we had some raffle prizes and giveaways.
Brian and Jackie Shannon hosted trivia night; this was a first for our group, and they had some tough questions on a variety of topics. It was great fun and I’m sure we will have trivia night again. Thank you Jackie and Brian for your continued support of our group.
Just like that, the rally was over. It had been three days of fun, new friends, and memories. We sincerely hope to see you all at next season’s events. Thank you to Laurie Gagnon for her work behind the camera, and thanks to Pat O’Malley for his infrared photos.
