The Leisurely Great Lakers 2024 Fall Rally was held at the Mackinaw Mill Creek Campground in Mackinaw City, Michigan. This beautiful location lured 57 LTVs (another record-breaking turnout) to the northernmost city in Michigan’s lower peninsula. Many campsites overlook the water and have views of the Mackinaw Bridge or Mackinac Island.
We were thankful for the large rally building, which provided shelter from the north winds and chilly temperatures. The brisk temperatures didn’t dampen our spirits as we gathered for fun, education, and camaraderie. Our group loves the familiarity of favorite rally events and is always open to trying new things!
We started our day with yoga each morning (relocated from the beach to the rally building.) Our educational sessions included:
- “Welcome to Michigan! Great Things to do in the Great Lakes State”
- “Mackinac Island Must Know and Must Do’s!”
- “Keeping your LTV in Tip Top Travel Condition”
- “Newfoundland and Canadian Travelogue”
- “Beyond Campgrounds – Let’s Boondock!”
- “Petoskey Stones – Michigan’s Pre-Historic Coral”
- “Demystifying Diesel”
- “Game On! – Fun Games for Two or Twenty”
- “Stargazing and the Night Sky”
We also ‘upped our game’ with “Singo Bingo,” a fun version of Bingo with songs from our era!
Next, with the tunes filling the air, we kicked up our heels for line dancing. All levels of talent filled the dance floor! Another night, we hosted our first-ever Euchre tournament and group games for all. The bonfire was a perfect way to gather on our final chilly evening together.
Our traditions from previous rallies, including our first evening meet and greet, “appetizers and introductions,” “my favorite thing,” the LTV open house tours, and the fall swap meet.
Hosting catered dinners on Friday and Saturday evenings has become a tradition. Local restaurants prepared their fan favorites at this rally with two nights of awesome buffets. We also indulged in desserts, compliments of our rally sponsor, Holland Motor Homes & Bus, Holland, Michigan.
For those interested in ferrying to Mackinac Island for the day, the campground provided a complimentary shuttle service.
As we wrap up another year of exploring while traveling in our LTVs, we are thankful that we have a great group of fellow travelers we now call friends. If you haven’t joined us for a rally yet, you’ll want to make plans to do so. We have fun and welcome all!
