The Rocky Mountain LTVers fall rally was held in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, from September 26 to 30. 53 coaches attended.

While we were initially concerned about the weather due to the time of year, we ended up with unseasonably warm weather, allowing us to venture out and see the leaves turning.

The rally was held at the Steamboat Springs KOA, which has a bus stop on-site for quick access to downtown Steamboat.

Thursday

Most people arrived and set up their “babies” on Thursday afternoon. That evening, we gathered for our first happy hour, where we reviewed the agenda and played the first of three trivia games during the rally. The trivia games focused on the Steamboat area, Colorado, and RV slang questions.

Friday

Friday morning, we started with an optional bike ride around Steamboat, stopping at the botanical gardens, a local restaurant, and a local brewery. Those not participating in the ride explored Steamboat and the surrounding areas independently.

Later that evening, we gathered for a bingo happy hour, with the winners taking home some LTV swag so they could decorate their coach for free. We also played our second round of trivia, this time about Colorado.

We also started a new game called Human Bingo. Prior to the rally, we sent out a survey to each attendee and asked them to tell us one unique thing about them that others might not know. We had some interesting submissions (like bears, beets, Battlestar Galactica, and If I Can’t Scuba, then What’s this All Been About), and we used that information to populate human bingo cards.

The participating attendees were given a bingo card to identify the fellow attendees who made the unique statement. The game made for some fun improv-ersations.

Saturday

Saturday morning, we enjoyed breakfast tacos from a local restaurant. Attendees were welcome to grab, go, sit, and stay visiting with one another. Afterward, some headed out for another day exploring Steamboat or met up for impromptu pickleball games. The Schneiders brought their pickleball net and paddles, and others got their gear. It was an excellent opportunity for individuals to learn the game in a friendly setting.

That evening, we held the fan-favorite progressive happy hour van tours. Several LTVers opened their vans for tours and provided snacks and beverages for everyone. Thanks to all who participated!

Sunday

We held our tech talk on Sunday morning. It was supposed to be held on Saturday, but because of the unseasonably warm weather, we moved it to the morning. Before our tech talk, we played our last round of trivia, this time on RV slang terms.

During the tech talk, we walked through the LTV preventative maintenance PowerPoint slide deck, which is the peacock of the business world, and answered many questions about how to care for our LTVs.

Afterward, we announced the winner of our trivia games (cumulative score): Alex Johnson. Congrats Alex!

We met at the Mountain Tap Brewery Sunday evening for our final meal. The dinner included three types of pizza and unlimited salad. Before leaving for the evening and closing the rally, we announced the human bingo game winners and raffled off the remaining LTV goodies.

Monday

Monday, we said our goodbyes and drove off in our homes or to our homes or other destinations.

Thanks to all attendees, especially Teresa Pennington, for leading the bike tour. We look forward to seeing you at future rallies. Speaking of which…

The Rocky Mountain Club’s next rally will be in Palisade, Colorado, at the Palisade Basecamp RV Resort from May 14 – 18. We have 40 sites set aside for the rally, with several already booked. The weather at that time of year is supposed to be beautiful, so book your site now. We expect them to go fast, like somewhere between a snake and a mongoose…and a panther.

We look forward to seeing you at the next rally or on the road somewhere in between.
