The Blue Ridge Leisures wrapped up a successful 2025 Spring Rally at Cape May, New Jersey, held from April 25 – 28.
Set against the charming backdrop of one of America’s oldest seaside resorts, the rally drew 48 Leisure Travel Vans and 89 spirited attendees from 12 states, all eager to launch their spring camping adventures. The event occurred at The Depot Travel Park, a family-owned campground that opened a week early exclusively for the Blue Ridge Leisures. Located just a short walk from Cape May’s historic district, the campground was an ideal home base for the long weekend. Despite varying degrees of early spring weather changes throughout the weekend, the rally agenda featured a variety of social, recreational, and educational activities designed to build camaraderie and enrich the RVing experience.
From the very start, the event was brimming with energy. The opening evening kicked off with an ice-breaker social and a lively round of “cornhole baseball,” where teams competed in a baseball-style tournament using beanbags. The game, hosted by Club Leader Karen Engstrom, was a crowd favorite. “We love to see LTV owners connect with one another, and playing this game was a great starter to those connections.” – Karen Engstrom
Throughout the weekend, attendees took part in a broad mix of activities. A highlight included trolley tours of Cape May’s historic landmarks
Other highlights included Michaela-led yoga sessions, bird-watching excursions at Cape May Point State Park, morning walks, bike rides, and small-group discussions on RV battery and electrical systems.
The agenda also featured one-on-one technical workshops and daily gatherings for informal sharing and support. A standout evening event was the ever-popular Trivia Night, organized and moderated by committee members Steve and Elaine Young. Members split into teams of 6 people with imaginative names like “Completely Dumb, “What Day Is It?, “Ladies of Leisures and their Husbands, “Penguin Lust,” and “Chowder Heads.” Categories included “General,” “Sports,” “LTV,” and “National Parks,” with questions designed to entertain and enlighten.
The biggest laugh of the night came from a tongue-in-cheek true-or-false question: “Each year, LTV sponsors a photo contest and invites all owners to submit photos which, if selected, will be featured in a calendar they publish each year. Like all contests, there is a long list of rules to abide by, and not everybody reads them. One new rule for this year’s contest is that LTV reserves the right to superimpose a tiny image of Dean on photos selected as part of a “‘Where’s Waldo’ theme for the 2026 calendar. (Answer: False!)
The rally concluded with a group luncheon at the West Cape May Firehouse. Following the meal, the Cape May County Fire Marshal delivered a vital presentation on RV fire safety. Club members Stephen and Roma Jaffe captivated the audience with a slide presentation of their recent trip to the Albuquerque Balloon Festival. Rounding out the program were presentations from club sponsors Fretz RV and SkyMed.
As the weekend came to a close, members were already buzzing with excitement about the next rally. The BRL Club has confirmed its fall rally will be held at Endless Caverns RV Resort in New Market, Virginia—a much-anticipated event promising more adventures, learning, and laughter.
