The Leisurely Great Lakers Travelers Club had another well-attended Spring Rally. In attendance were 23 Unity coaches and 1 Wonder along with their owners. The LTVs ranged in age from 2003 through 2022, with the most common model being the Unity Twin Bed. Just for fun, we did a group comparison of miles driven on the units which ranged from a low of 9,000 miles to over 81,000 miles.
The Rally was held at the lovely Evergreen RV Resort located in Dundee, Ohio. This was the third Rally we have held in this location and is a very popular location for the Club! Located in the middle of a large Ohio Amish community, you’ll see lots of horse-drawn carriages, and rolling hills, and there’s a great, small town grocery/deli just a short walk away. The RV resort has a great open-air pavilion that was used for all our Rally events and meetings. Mother Nature sent a couple of thunderstorms and showers through the area however, we enjoyed mostly sunny skies and cool nights.
The Spring Rally was time to try something new! Instead of potluck meals, we had two evening meals catered by a couple of local restaurants. This evening meal option was very well received and due to its popularity, it’s being planned for the Fall Rally as well.
Our agenda included a couple of technical based discussions on Unity/Wonder maintenance, recommended tools for the road, and an open Q&A for anything else that people wanted to discuss. Another important presentation was on weight and distribution of weight. We learned more about knowing your “OCCC” and adhering to it which makes for a responsible and safer drive!
The local Ohio LTV authorized dealership, Craig Smith RV Center returned to the Rally again this year. They arrived in a new Unity Rear Lounge and allowed our members the opportunity to tour the motorhome. What a treat! Next, they hosted a question and answer session followed up by generous sponsorship of our Friday evening meal…BIG THANK YOU TO CRAIG SMITH RV!
Back by popular demand, Saturday afternoon was our “RV Open House”. This is for members to see and share decorating and storage ideas, upgrades from towel hooks to enhanced battery and solar power, and many other unique ways owners have added their own touches to customize their LTV.
In addition, we afforded time for people to explore the local area and enjoy all that Ohio Amish country has to offer including great food and unique shopping. Even so, many stayed near the pavilion where lots of impromptu discussions occurred. This was the real opportunity to get together and make new friends and catch up with old friends!
The Leisurely Great Lakers also experienced the first major leadership position change in the group and the Rally provided the opportunity to discuss the direction members want to take the Club. Great feedback was shared to embrace this opportunity to make the duties of the Club Leader easier by breaking down some of the tasks that were needed for each Rally and getting more people involved in helping out. This approach was well received by the members and will continue to be refined during the Fall Rally.
Our Spring Rally may be over, but the new and old friendships are rekindled. Attendees left with ideas on new locales to add to their travel itinerary, possible additions to their LTVs, and how they may individually contribute to the success of the club!
