After starting with a very wet and cool spring in the Great Lakes region, the weather finally took a turn for the better for the spring rally being held at the Fort Boonesborough State Park in Kentucky. We had nice hot days, one evening thunderstorm and a quick evening sprinkle that didn’t interfere with our campfire outing. 18 LTV RVs were part of this gathering with 7 couples joining for the first time! The rest have attended previous rallies and it was fun to see friends again.

Our group coordinators set up a great itinerary for everyone so we had a chance to make new friends, and visit each other’s RVs to see all the neat ideas everyone had to show. Sometimes we saw answers for issues we didn’t even know we had! That has to be one of the great benefits of these rallies outside of the comradeship, where the group has a chance to see how to do things that they didn’t imagine.

A few of us got to the campsite early and greeted everyone else as they rolled in!
The State Park campground is very nice with paved and mostly level pads. All sites have water and power but only a few near the entrance have sewer connections which weren’t a problem. They did have several dump stations available for use, including using empty campsites that had a dump connection.

The first day/night was spent getting set up, reacquainted with everyone and meeting the new faces. A group potluck dinner was held in a great enclosed and air-conditioned pavilion next to our block of sites.

Dinner was a fun time and we spent a lot of time sitting around talking. We had a tech talk period where different issues were brought up and solutions offered. It was a fun evening until some evening thunderstorms rolled through so everyone scurried back to their RVs to button up for the night.

The next day was started off with a coffee and breakfast snack get together at the pavilion. Many people stuck around for an interesting presentation on genealogy from one of our members. Later in the afternoon, we held a putt-putt golf tournament with prizes donated by LTV. People walked and rode around the state park and visited the various historical markers.

Friday evening was our taco night along with some great desserts! After dinner, we had a rousing session of LTV Bingo with more prizes from LTV. Entertainment was provided with a demonstration of an individual outdoor bug shelter, not so much the shelter itself but the fun of trying to pack it back up into its bag. YouTube had to be utilized to figure that one out!

Saturday morning many of us met around our group coordinator’s RV and we had an impromptu session on different types of electric bikes, with several of them being brought out for everyone to try. There was even a good discussion on picking the best portable camp chairs, there were lots of different models to try out and figure out which one(s) were the best.

Saturday was also the ‘official’ show off your LTV day, so there were a lot of tours given to see decorating ideas, modifications that were installed, and just admire some of the great designs that LTV has put out both past and present. The evening started with a hot dog dinner put on by our group coordinators! Saturday night was also time for everyone to sit around a campfire and tell stories of our individual travels and just have fun talking with friends.

Sunday came around and it was time to pack up and leave but not without a lot of goodbyes and promises to see each other at the fall rally. Everyone had a good time and renewing friendships is priceless! Hoping to see everyone again at the fall Leisurely Great Lakers Rally in Holland Michigan in September!
