We met at the Convention Welcome Lot at the Pima County Fairgrounds in Tucson AZ and became the first-ever LTV Caravan to attend any FMCA Convention! Our group consisted of 11 LTV coaches and 20 club members. After settling in, Wagon Masters, Fran Zaft & Harry Salit fed us an incredible dinner of home-cooked, pulled pork sandwiches, sides, and Pig Pickin’ Cake. However, our social time was interrupted by heavy rain & winds; luckily this was our only real weather interruption.

After a breakfast of pancakes and sausage, some of us attended FMCA Volunteer’s Orientation. In the afternoon, some of the ladies gathered for a craft session of making beaded bracelets and hearing how to make DIY oilcloth tablecloths to fit the various sized camp tables. Later, we all gathered for happy hour followed by homemade chili, salads, and Fran’s very impressive Crème Brulé.

We all learned a new way to make omelets using a ZipLock bag in boiling water for breakfast! A discussion titled “All Things LTV” followed breakfast clean-up.
Mid-afternoon many attended the First Timers Orientation to learn more about the convention activities. Afterward, Chapter Fairs were held to introduce members to the nearly 300 chapters (clubs) available for various geographic, hobby, and other special interests which are available to all FMCA members. Randy & Shirley Johnson represented our LTV chapter. Between the Chapter Fair and a “Door Knocking Campaign”, 7 new coaches joined our group. That evening, Fran & Harry hosted a Mexican Fiesta with taco salads and ice cream sundaes which concluded our Rally.
Wednesday, March 23 – Saturday, March 26, 2022
The Convention opened bright and early each morning with free coffee and donuts at Towne Center. Lifestyle, travel, and technical educational seminars were hosted by various consultants. Coaches were on display and a related trade show gave us the opportunity to add to our “can’t live without” items. Entertainment was plentiful. There was a book club and signing event by the author, free ice cream social, card bingo, a mariachi band, and nightly entertainment on the main stage.
On Thursday, our chapter hosted a “Block Party” along with the other FMCA chapters. This is a way to involve new members and those interested and recruited from the earlier Chapter Fair. It’s also a chance to meet other chapter members. The club provided a dinner of hot dogs, salads, and cookies thanks to FMCA National providing modest funding and Fran & Shirley cooking to feed roughly 30 attendees.
On Sunday, March 27, 2022, the power was turned off and everyone headed out. Many new friends were made, and old friendships were cherished once again. Thanks to all who pitched in and assisted. All efforts were appreciated. Also, a special thanks to Harry & Fran who went well beyond the expectations.
