Description and Tips

A difficult hike on Meares Island accessible only via water taxi, Lone Cone Trail winds its way up an old cinder cone. The views from the top are spectacular on a clear day – looking out at Tofino, Clayoquot Sound, and over the Pacific Ocean. You’ll need to use Tofino Water Taxi to get from Tofino to the Tla-o-qui-aht community of Opitsaht. There is a $10 access fee for the trail.

The Hunt Lake trail features some unique caves and rock faces tucked along the trail. Even if you’re not up for the whole route, the first part of the trail to Hunt Lake is worth completing.
