Trail Start and End Details

Cape Cod Rail Trail runs from South Dennis to Wellfleet in Cape Cod. The trail starts at the South Dennis trailhead parking area, which is located several minutes from Route 6 on Route 134. Take Exit 9A and head south on Route 134 past Patriots Square plaza and Cumberland Farms. About 1/2 mile down from the exit, you’ll see a sign and parking lot on the left – turn here for the trail entrance.

Description and Tips

Find some of the greatest variety in scenery and natural landscapes in the East Coast along this trail. The trail is smoothly paved and relatively flat, with a few minor grades in the Lower/Outer Cape areas like Orleans and Wellfleet. Along the way you’ll find the Pleasant Bay General Store, granite benches, picnic tables, trail map signage, and mile markers, plus safety features like traffic warning beacons, curbing, fencing, and guardrails.
