Clayton Lake is a Gold level International Dark Sky Park thanks to night skies that feature very little light pollution. The park has its own 14-inch Mead telescope and a Lake Observatory.
Clayton Lake State Park is also the site of some the most well-preserved dinosaur trail drags anywhere in the US and has a visitor center with information on dinosaurs as well as the geology of the region. Check out the nearby section of the Santa Fe National Historic Trail. See additional northeast region attractions here.
