This trail starts at the Lava Lands Visitor Center at Newberry National Volcanic Monument and descends 300 feet to the Deschutes River and Sunriver.

Description and Tips

The Sun-Lava Trail is a paved pathway, closed to motorized vehicles, through the beautiful Oregon Forest at Newberry National Volcanic Monument. This trail is moderately difficult due to rolling landscape, and has access to a waterfall before ending at the resort town of Sunriver. The National Park Service also offers a shuttle bus service to the top of Lava Butte from the visitor center parking lot.
