The Leisurely Great Lakers Travelers Club had another well-attended Fall Rally with 26 Leisure Travel Vans and their owners.
We gathered in Florence, Indiana, at the Follow the River RV Resort on the shores of the Ohio River, bordering Indiana and Kentucky. This RV Resort is rich with amenities perfect for hosting a group of our size. A clubhouse for hosting group meals, educational sessions, and informal gatherings in the comfort of air conditioning! A small lake, pool, and hiking/biking trails are also steps away.
To continue our group’s preference for catered group meals, we enjoyed two dinners prepared by a couple of favorite local eateries: Holy Smokin’ Pork & More served us a delicious spread of a traditional southern BBQ, followed up with none other than Hometown Pizza from which we had pizza, salads, and even dessert pizzas. The servings were so generous that many of us took pizza for a midnight snack!
A first for the Leisurely Great Lakers was a session called “Make it – Take it.” The ladies (no gentlemen joined us THIS time) sewed Wine Bottle Bags that protect bottles from rattling while on the road in our beloved LTVs. This was a fun and easy sewing project that produced professional results! Another first for the group was a “swap meet.” We incorporated the swap meet during the LTV Open House Tours. Think “fall cleaning” for your LTV. So much fun to find a bargain on something for the RV lifestyle OR to pass along items that are no longer used shed some OCCC weight – AND make a few bucks! Win-Win!
Our agenda also included a couple of technical-based discussions on Unity and Wonder maintenance, recommended tools for the road, and an open Q&A session for anything else people wanted to discuss. A session on RV Power was a popular event, as was learning how to “up-fit” the LTV with additional battery and solar power for even more travel flexibility. During our “Phone Photography” session, we learned tips and tricks to use our cell phone cameras to take amazing pictures during our travels.
With several of the group members just returning from the Fall Rally in Winkler, we were happy to share our experiences and photos of the wonderful time and new friendships we forged. The session piqued the interest and anticipation of those that are (impatiently) waiting for their turn to attend.
Another first offering was a movie night and popcorn in the clubhouse. The showing was for “Madison,” which is based on a true story and is set in Madison, Indiana, just a few miles from our rally location. We learned that the group prefers to gather around the campfire for smores and fellowship more than watching movies!
During the business meeting, it was fun and interesting to review the recent survey results for what the group members defined as a “fun Rally.” We learned that many have talents and knowledge they are willing to share, are interested in supporting the Rally leadership team, and are excited to be part of this great group!
The 2022 Fall Rally wrapped up with members vowing to keep in touch, wishes of safe travels, happy trails, and of course – “See you at the Spring Rally!”
