The Midwest LTVers Club gathered for our 2022 Fall Rally from September 12 – 16, 2022, at Wildwood RV Park and Campground near Taylors Falls, Minnesota, and the St. Croix River. Taylors Falls is a small town in Minnesota on the St. Croix River that separates Minnesota from Wisconsin and is northeast of Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area.
We had a total of 43 LTVs and one couple with a Wonder Rear Twin Bed on order, for a total of 84 people in attendance. There were many familiar faces, but also lots experiencing their very first Rally. The fall weather was great we did not have any rain or storms, and the leaves were starting to change color as well.
Some of the group arrived a day early on Sunday, September 11. We used this opportunity to gather as a small group for a Monday morning breakfast of tasty treats and coffee before the official Rally started that afternoon.
We started each Rally day with breakfast treats, fruit, hard-boiled eggs, tea, coffee, and a morning meeting. On Tuesday morning, we had guest speakers via Zoom from the LTV Customer Service Department, Brian Hiebert, and Mike Duclos. They presented many LTV topics and answered questions for the LTV owners. On Wednesday morning, Rob Westphal and Greg Palmquist, Midwest Club Co-leaders, facilitated a presentation on the winterization and de-winterization process, including showing the LTV video. On Thursday, our guest speaker via Zoom was Dillon Scheetz, Technical Service Trainer from Dometic, and he answered questions for the group. Another morning session was to break out groups of LTV owners based on their specific chassis and model.
Tuesday evening was a special addition to our Rally, it was a 2-hour evening riverboat cruise and boxed meal on the St. Croix River. Their licensed boat pilot and the tour guide pointed out the scenic areas on the river, including the unique rock formations that were left behind as the glaciers retreated thousands of years ago. Thank you to LTV for contributing financially to the riverboat cruise and meal.
The activities in the day included putt putt golf tournaments, bike rides on the Swedish Immigrant Trail that runs right behind the campground, playing games, visiting the local attractions and businesses, chatting about our travels and plans, and meeting new LTV club members.
Every day at 3:00 pm, we had additional information and educational sessions, including learning about the local birds in the area, birdwatching, and bird feeding; learning about the On The Go Water Softener, and the planning process for a trip to Colorado and Utah including going to the five National Parks in Utah.
The evening meals ranged from grilled brats, soup and sides, and a baked potato bar. There was plenty of food at the Rally! Also, we were so fortunate to have a great group of volunteers that helped out when needed with grilling, organizing the tables of food, serving food, cleaning up, and anything else we needed help with.
Our “LTV family” continues to grow, and this was the biggest Rally we have had in the Midwest LTVers Club. It was a great time spending time with these wonderful people, and we hope that others will consider joining us at a future Rally!
