The Southwest Roadrunners and Rocky Mountain Travelers Clubs held a joint rally at Ruby’s Inn RV Park in Bryce Canyon City, Utah, from September 28 – October 2, 2026. Diana Brannon, Towney Sausville, Ryan, and Kate Rhoten hosted. Ruby’s is the closest campground to Bryce Canyon National Park without being inside it. The park shuttle stops at the campground, and the general store, coffee shop, and Cowboy’s Buffet and Steak Room are a short walk away.
Monday
Monday was arrival and registration day. We ran registration under the canopy in the group area during spotty rain, and although we’re not superstitious, we are a little ‘stitious and wondered if the rain was foreshadowing what was to come.
Thank you to Jeanette Eash and Marcia LeBlanc for helping check everyone in. Our meet-and-greet happy hour started on schedule, and so did the rain. Once it started, it kept going for five-plus hours, causing our Starlink to slow down and our skylights to leak. Todd Johnson later called it Biblical rain, and we don’t think he was wrong.

Tuesday
Tuesday was open to explore Bryce, but Mother Nature had other plans. Those who ventured out did so with their umbrellas, raincoats, and galoshes. It rained off and on all day, including during our evening social gathering in the group area. Those who remained cuddled under the canopy and got to know each other well.
Wednesday
Wednesday was also left open to explore the park, and after being cooped up in our RVs for most of two days, folks were ready to go outside and stand in the park.
One group went for a morning hike, and another got together in the afternoon to bike into the park. Thank you to John Stitt for leading that group. Our evening social gathering was the first rain-free one of the rally and the first time we’d experienced sustained sunlight since arriving on Monday.

Thursday
Thursday was a full day of programming. We kicked things off with coffee, a presentation, and a Q&A with Josiah Wiebe of LTV. Later that morning, Towney and Diana shared details about their Alaska trip, including planning, preparation, and pictures that made us all jealous enough to want to go, but still too hicken (FYI – it’s a small village in Alaska that Diana was excited to visit) to attempt it on our own. After lunch, Towney led the tech talk and walked us through a comprehensive presentation that suspiciously left out any mention of recommended tire pressures.
That evening we had a tasty taco bar group dinner, followed by bingo with Jeanette Eash, who did a great job as bingo caller. For those who spent any of your dollars and left empty-handed, don’t worry, you can declare bankruptcy and try again at the next rally.
After bingo, Mike Hartel played guitar and entertained the remaining attendees until the wee hours of the morning. Ok. Not the wee hours, but an hour.

Friday
On Friday, we all said our goodbyes and drove off to our homes or other destinations. Thanks to all attendees, and a big thanks to our Southwest Roadrunners friends and hosts Diana and Towney. Special thanks again to John Stitt for leading the bike ride, and Jeanette Eash for bingo, and Jeanette and Marcia LeBlanc for helping at registration.
Last but not least, we want to thank Josiah from Leisure Travel Vans for joining us for a few days. It’s not the easiest location to get to from Winkler, but we are glad he found his way to Bryce.
Up Next for the Clubs
The Rocky Mountain Club’s next rally will be held at Verde Ranch RV Resort in Camp Verde, Arizona, from October 21 – 24. If you’re thinking maybe, spots are still open, and Verde Ranch has a can’t-miss Halloween haunted house, so we hope to scare you there.
The Southwest Roadrunners’ next events begin with Quartzsite, January 15 – 23, and the Annual Meeting/Winter Rally at Oasis Las Vegas RV Resort, March 1 – 5.
