Due to the current COVID-19 situation, this event has been canceled.
We’re excited to announce our first National Park rally for the Rocky Mountain LTVers. Staying in the heart of the Capitol Reef National Park, we’ve reserved the group campsite in the Fruita Historic district for Memorial Weekend of 2020 (May 21-25, 4 nights).
Located in south-central Utah in the heart of red rock country, Capitol Reef National Park is a hidden treasure filled with cliffs, canyons, domes, and bridges in the Waterpocket Fold, a geologic monocline (a wrinkle on the earth) extending almost 100 miles.
An International Dark Sky Park, Capitol Reef is spectacular for photography, geology, amazing hiking, rock climbing, road, and bicycle touring and fishing on the Fremont River. In addition to ranger-led talks, hikes, and programs, the park also houses the historic Fruita Area’s Gifford House Store and Museum, and orchard.
The group location only hosts 10 spots, but there are plenty of spots located nearby in the general area. Booking can begin for 6 months in advance. I will be sending out emails to the Rocky Mountain Chapter members on how to book those spots, so if you wish to go, but are not in our Chapter, please reach out to me so I can place you on the email distribution.
