The South West Roadrunners will be gathering at the Gold Ranch Casino and RV Resort in Verdi, Nevada, 12 miles from downtown Reno. This is a pretty mountainous setting with mature pine trees and large pull-thru sites. There are bike and hiking trails nearby.
There are a lot of activities at the rally outside of the social gatherings and tech talks. You can visit the historic city of Virginia. (about 40 miles from the RV park). The V & T Railroad may be open from Carson City to Virginia City (it depends on the weather and the season). In Reno, you can also visit the National Automotive Museum, the Nevada Museum of Art, or walk along the Downtown River Walk. The Nevada Railroad Museum and Nevada Mint Museum are both in Carson City, which is also Nevada’s capital city. We are also planning a special day trip to Lake Tahoe as part of the rally. We will take a scenic bus ride and then board a paddle steamer for a cruise around the lake.
