Find a trailhead is at 200 Miller Road in Susanville, California. Stay at Susanville RV Park and you can ride 2.5 miles through town to the trailhead.
Description and Tips
This is a gravel rail trail through thick wooded areas and along the Susan River. The scenery is stunning! There are multiple trestle bridges and tunnels – don’t forget the headlamp, as you will need it in the tunnels. This is an out-and-back ride, so you can choose your turn-around point. If starting in Susanville, you’ll have a gradual ascent that is never more than a 3% grade, and that makes for a fast and easy return. Restrooms and water are available at multiple trailheads along the route.
