The park is huge and includes a “Grand Strand” beach. The beach goes on for miles and is suitable for riding a bike on. There is access to the beach from 3 locations within the park, 2 of which are in the campground. There are always interesting birds and wildlife to see in the park. Amenities could be a little improved, but the location and scenery are worth the small inconveniences.

Brookgreen Gardens (part of the park but across the highway) includes 9000 acres of beautiful gardens, statues, and a natural “zoo”. There is also a butterfly house there. It was founded by Archer and Anna Huntington who owned the entire park. The remains of their house is located on the campground property and you can take tours there.
