Description
We live in Fremont, Nebraska, but The Buena Viking in Buena Vista, Colorado, has the best burgers we have ever eaten. The creativity of their cooks is incredible, with burger toppings ranging from apple cider sesame carrot slaw to strawberry jam. The first time we went there, they were in a food truck in a distillery courtyard, but now they have a brick-and-mortar restaurant just down the street from the original location. We ordered the special burger called “You’re Bacon Me Crazy.” It consisted of bacon marmalade, pepper jack cheese, strawberry jam, pickled jalapenos, and a 7 oz burger on a brioche bun. It was to die for! Now, I know what you are thinking. Strawberry jam and marmalade on a burger? My answer to you is Yes! The taste combination was excellent, and the burger was cooked to perfection. My wife ordered the Raven, a BLT with cornmeal fried chicken tenders and apple cider bacon. Again, to say delicious may be an understatement. To finish off the meal, we also ordered the First Snow Sweets. Again, stay with me here: sweet potato fries sprinkled with goat cheese and drizzled with honey. Once again, the combination sounds odd, but I can assure you it worked magnificently! The entire meal was so good it ruined the other restaurant we visited in town the next day, and we went back to the Buena Viking on the third day for breakfast! We have now been there four times in total. Twice, we drove as much as two and a half hours out of our way to eat there, and we will go back again!

Whatever the burger special is, and the First Snow Sweet potato fries, the combination of flavors is so good, and the ingredients are so unique.
