The Midwest LTV Club will have a Solar Eclipse Rally from April 2 – April 9, 2024. The total solar eclipse will occur on April 8, 2024. The campground is at Lake Wappapello State Park in southeast Missouri near the town of Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Also, the area has many Army Core of Engineer Campgrounds for you to stay at, and you can join the group for activities and meals.
The Rally location will be in the Asher Creek Camping area of the Lake Wappapello State Park. If you would like to join us for all or part of our Rally, you may make your reservation here.
On April 8, 2024, Missouri will again be in the path of totality, which will cut across the southeast part of the state, particularly Poplar Bluff. At 4 minutes and 8 seconds, Poplar Bluff will have more time in totality than any other sizable community. This time, the sun’s shadow will start in Mexico and sweep northeast, entering Texas, moving across the Heartland through Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, and Illinois, then through Indiana, Ohio, and up into the northeast, completing its journey in Canada. The path of totality will be wider, the duration of totality will be longer, and the number of people residing within the band of totality will be nearly three times as great as in 2017.

This campground is directly in the path of the total eclipse, and “weather permitting” will provide us with optimal viewing of this celestial phenomenon. If you want to be added to the waiting list, please email [email protected]. There will be a $10 rally fee per coach to assist with the expenses of the Rally and the Midwest LTV Club.
