Just when we thought we couldn’t possibly top the attendance and fun of our 2024 spring rally in Williamsburg, on May 2 a fleet consisting of 107 members and 54 Unity, Wonder and Serenity Leisure Travel Vans returned to Camp Hatteras RV Resort on the shores of Hatteras Island, part of the Outer Banks (OBX) and Cape Hatteras National Seashore.

Beautiful Camp Hatteras, nestled between the Atlantic Ocean and Pamlico Sound, was the perfect setting for relaxation and fun get-togethers. Attendees had ample opportunity for bike rides, long walks on the pristine beaches of the Outer Banks, and fun exploration of the natural wonders of Cape Hatteras National Seashore and the rich history of the Outer Banks.

Side trips included several historic lighthouses, and the Wright Brothers National Memorial at Kitty Hawk, where the world learned to fly! As a side note, the Wright Brothers knew what they were doing when they picked the Outer Banks. We were “treated” to a constant strong breeze that kept the air fresh, and awnings and doors shut! Like the Wright Brothers, the wind had a silver lining for us. We were wowed by the amazing feats of two of our newest members; Bindu and Roy Hogstedt treated us to a kite surfing demonstration right off the sound!

While “in-camp”, attendees enjoyed informative sessions on the Ford and Mercedes-Benz chassis and their Wonder and Unity “houses”. We were also inspired by a presentation on the Canadian Maritimes and Newfoundland with Fantasy RV Tours.

This year’s new feature of the rally included an “Open House” event, where attendees opened their rigs to fellow LTVers to see and discuss modifications, additions, decorating, and cuisine ideas while on the road. Many helpful maintenance hints and tips were also shared. A full ten years of LTV models were represented, from 2015.5 to 2025, on their maiden voyage.

The variety of experience was vast, as were the home ports of the attendees. In addition to North Carolina and South Carolina, attendees came from as far away as Ontario, Canada, and Massachusetts. Many LTVers came from the surrounding states, including Tennessee, Georgia, Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania.

A contingent from the renewed Blue Ridge Leisures also joined us and thanked the Carolina LTV’ers team for helping them get things “rolling” again. A convoy of twelve LTVs attended both rallies, starting in Cape May, New Jersey, with the Blue Ridge Leisures and then heading south along the Delmarva Peninsula to attend the Carolina LTV’ers Rally at Camp Hatteras.

Of course, these rallies’ main purpose is to renew friendships and make new ones based on our shared experiences with our magnificent homes on wheels. And once again, that proved to be the best part of being a community member.

Until we meet again at our fall rally in October at the Pride RV Resort in Waynesville, North Carolina. Happy travels and see you out there!
