Otter Falls is part of the Winnipeg River system and sits near Seven Sisters Generating Station (dam). This area has become quite popular for boating, fishing, and camping. There are electrical and non-serviced sites available, all of which will fit your Leisure Travel Van. The campground is quite small and the walk to the shower is near all sites. The sites are not very private, but if travelling with others it is easy to share meals and fire sides.

The waterfront sites are not serviced, however they provide the best views of sunsets over the water. You don't need to bring a table as the campground supplies their own.

Great hiking and/or nature walks within short driving distances. Sturgeon Falls, with a suspension bridge, and Pine Point Rapids are both great trails to see some of the beauty of the region. You can also visit the Seven Sisters Generating Station and Whitemouth Falls Provincial Park in the town of Seven Sisters. This park is a great day picnicking area set against a lovely series of waterfalls.

Big Whiteshell Lake is one of the more remote campgrounds in Whiteshell Provincial Park and offers boating and fishing. The campground has private and sheltered sites with a variety of services: electrical and water, electrical, and non-serviced. The campground is spread out and some sites are a bit of a longer walk to the modern bathroom/shower building. Some of the sites also sit at the edge of the campground and are near pathways that lead you to the water.

Our favourite sites would be in Section B; these allow for beautiful walks over the rock of the Canadian Shield to the water. These sites also have electrical and water service.

About

Nutimik Lake is part of the Winnipeg River system and is located at the northern end of Whiteshell Provincial Park. Most of the sites are very sheltered and private and there is a good selection of electrical serviced sites and non-serviced sites. There are nine waterfront sites that provide electrical and water service. Most campsites would easily accommodate your Leisure Travel Van.

There are nine waterfront sites, and sites 4EW to 9EW have the best wide-open view of the water. The only disadvantage to these sites is a lack of shelter from a north wind across the lake (can be rough on awnings).

Falcon Lake has two campgrounds: Lakeshore and Beach. For the purpose of camping, Lakeshore is our preferred choice. The sites are fairly private and all will fit Leisure Travel Vans. There is a good selection of electrical and non-electrical sites, as well as some sites with both electrical and water service. This campground also has its own private beach area that is less populated and more peaceful. It is also just a short walk or bike ride into town or to the Beach campground. The Beach campground is next to the townsite but the sites are very close to each other and there is no privacy between campers. The appeal of the Beach Campground is that it offers a number of sites with full electrical, water, and sewer hookups.

For us, we found the water and electrical sites in Bays 1 and 2 very nice and also very close to the modern washroom/shower building. There are a few sites that back onto the lakeshore, but there is a public pathway between the water and the campsites. Bay 4 and 5 offer close proximity to and views of the lake and beach area but are unserviced or electricity only. This is a beach lovers' campground. Although the water can be quite cold, it is very refreshing on a hot summer day.

There are a number of hikes nearby; Top of the World is one we really enjoyed. There are horse stables near the campground for horse trail rides.

Riding Mountain National Park is Manitoba's only national park and campground. There are quite a few full-service (electrical, water, sewer) sites near the entrance of the campground, and most of these sites are pull-through sites. Although ideal for large rigs, it does provide plenty of extra room when camping in a Leisure Travel Van. Some of the site are quite sloped from side to side, so when our van was levelled on blocks it was a large step out of the van. Very doable, but we did get a chuckle out of the size of the step. These full-service sites are also very close to the townsite – good for a nice walk or bike ride.

We like the option of the full-service sites (sites 1 - 85) and the easy access into town (and the beach). The other sites are also very nice, but have less services (electrical and water, electrical only, and non-serviced). These other sites are a further distance from the town site and while the distance can be walked or biked, if you don't like hills while biking it could be disappointing.

There are many great hikes throughout the park and a number of golf courses. There is a great drive through a bison compound (we also saw bears and cubs). Truly a gem to visit in Manitoba. It really has a holiday destination feel to it!

Winnipeg Beach has become a favourite stop on our annual camping tour in Manitoba. The campground sits on the shores of Lake Winnipeg and all sites are fully serviced with water, electrical, and sewer. The sites are all large enough for Leisure Travels Vans and have ample extra room for sitting, dining, and enjoying a fire.

Although the campground is fully serviced, there are two bays within the campground that are more desirable. We have stayed in the New Dipps Bay a number of times and like the sheltered sites towards the far end. There is a little less privacy in these sites due to the fact that they are drive-through and vehicles travel on either side. The Moonlight Special Bay is also set up in a very similar manner. All sites are relatively close to modern washrooms and showers. The rest of the campground (Water Tower) is very open and the sites are very close together with very few trees to offer privacy.

This is a great area for relaxed biking. The waterfront has a very nice boardwalk and there are quite a few streets (gravel) that meander through cottages old and new.

West Hawk Lake Campground has many sites that will fit a Leisure Travel Van. There are a few fully serviced sites (water, electrical, sewer) and some sites with electrical only, as well as non-serviced sites. Most of the campground is fairly wide open, so very little privacy from camper to camper, other than a few sites in section E. The campground is close to the lake and a campers' beach as well as close to the large public beach area. It is also close to the townsite where the is a convenience store, restaurants, fuel, and boat rentals.

I'm not sure we really have a favourite spot in this campground, but if you are travelling with others, section D with electrical and water service also has some nice open grass areas to toss a frisbee or play other games.

There are a number of hiking trails nearby, with the Hunt Lake Trail being the most popular. It is a grueling up and down trail at close to 13 kms long, so be sure to bring along a lot of water and some food for energy. There are also a number of shorter and easier trails near by, as well as golfing in Falcon Lake just a short way down the road.

Tulabi Falls has become one of our favourite campgrounds. Out in the wilderness of Nopiming Provincial Park and near the Manitoba/Ontario border, it is one of the lesser visited campgrounds. The sites are for the most part fairly separated and limited to 19 electrical sites and 16 non-electrical sites. There is no drinking water available at this campground, so ensure that your Leisure Travel Van has the drinking water holding tank full (as well as drinking water bottles). The remoteness of this campground is a wonderful experience, and although there is about 35 kms of gravel road, it is worth the trip.

Bay 2 has the electrical sites and, for some reason, at site 28 we had full LTE service for our cell phones. Cell phone service is difficult to attain in most other areas of the campground. There are two beaches to use, the closest being on Bird Lake and another on Tulabi Lake, which is just a little further to walk. The Tulabi Lake beach has nicer sand but does have a steeper drop-off when walking in. Tulabi Lake also has an area where swimmers will jump off the cliffs into the water (about 20 to 30 feet high). This is not a sanctioned or official sport so it must be done at the jumper's own risk.  do not have any modern washrooms or showers.

The campground does have a number of hiking areas that provide wonderful views of the region. There is also a series of waterfalls/rapids that flow from Tulabi Lake into Bird Lake. There are not conveniences nearby, so be sure to arrive fully stocked.

This is a small campground on Lake Winnipeg, just north of Gimli, Manitoba. The campground has just over 40 sites (plus a few seasonal sites) and most have electrical service. All sites could easily fit a Leisure Travel Van, and there are water stations spread out around the campground to fill your holding tanks. The beach is a short walk from all of the campsites.

Sites 16 to 26 have the most trees that provide some shelter and privacy from other campers. They also have electrical service.

If spending some time here, it is worth a trip into Gimli to see the sights. There is also a large concrete pier nearby that we drove our van onto and fished with the convenience of the van right next to us. There is a small convenience store nearby with limited supplies.

The campground offers 200+ sites that either have electrical service or are non-serviced. There are many styles of sites to choose from – private and sheltered or open and shared. Water filling stations are available for your Leisure Travel Van and these vans would fit most sites. There are many bike trails to choose from or you can wander through the campground on your bike or daily walk.

We would suggest either Bay 1 or 2, as these sites have large mature trees, offer privacy and shelter, and have electrical service. That being said, there are also many nice sites in Bays 5 - 7 (electrical) and in the upper levels in Bays 8 and 9 (electrical). Bays 8 and 9 are also terrific if you are travelling with other RVers.

Nearby Attractions

Spruce Woods Provincial Park is very close to the unique Spirit Sands. This is Manitoba's version of a desert and an oasis, with many miles of hiking trails leading to sand dunes. There are also hiking (and some biking) trails nearby at Epinette, Seton, and Yellow Quill. The nearest towns of either Carberry or Glenboro are a short 30 minutes or less away.

This is a wonderful campground that we first discovered in 2021, with a wide variety of sites, from electrical serviced to non-serviced. We were fortunate enough to have chosen a fairly treed site that offered privacy and shelter from wind. Your Leisure Travel Van will have no problem fitting in these deep sites. There are two sections to the campground, with Bay 5 being closer to the waterfront and the concession store and Bays 1 to 4 being up a slight hill and a little further from the water. Be aware that the walk to the beach and boat docks is a steep hill that does offer handicapped parking.

We were in Bay 5, site 29, and it was the closest walk/bike ride to the waterfront. Sites 16 to 33 would be our most desired sites, offering trees and protections from the elements. The sites in Bays 1 -3 were very large, but you would most likely need to drive to get to the waterfront.

Nearby Attractions

The main reason for people staying at this location would be to fish The Lake of the Prairies. We were fortunate enough to have a brother who lives nearby and took us fishing out on the lake with his boat. There were also people catching walleye from the docks. There are boat rentals (small 14-foot aluminum) but you do need to bring your own life jackets during COVID-19 protocol times. Hiking takes you through the ski hills in the area. The town of Inglis is nearby and a place to pick up needed items. The Shellmouth Dam and Reservoir is great to check out and would require taking your LTV for a short drive away from the campground.
