South Padre Island Spring Rally Get-Away

Our chapter traveled to the South Padre Island KOA on April 28. The Island is well-known for sandcastles, birding, sea turtles, and fishing. Over 50% of our attendees were new owners or first-time attendees, or both. This was the largest rally in Texoma Travelers history. South Padre Island provided us with so many outdoor coastal activities and dining opportunities. Our rally days and nights were filled with all kinds and sizes of impromptu gatherings, including open coach tours, a dog show, game nights, and catered meals.

Many of our newest owners were eager to learn more about their LTV RVs during the rally. We spent the afternoon instructing everyone on how to find the technical questions and core videos provided by LTV on their website. Because of the size and makeup of this rally, we created a new concept. A group of four seasoned LTV couples – “Rally Ambassadors” – were appointed to help us conduct the rally. Wearing special nametags, their focus was to welcome attendees, guide and advise, help with rally hall logistics, and help our newbies.

During our semi club meeting, we had multiple drawings for prizes to hold their interest, which was another first. As with most coastal locations, we had some intermittent rain during the rally. As someone said, that keeps us grounded to the RV park in order to make more friends. We would like to thank Leisure Travel Vans for their support in helping us make this rally possible. We would also like to thank the attendees who took the time and effort to travel many miles to South Padre Island. I think we were successful at conducting an enjoyable event, eating too much, laughing till we hurt at times, and even learned a few new things. Most of us came as strangers and left as new or renewed friends.
